I want to thank everyone who has liked, shared, followed, and supported our website yetitrust.com and our Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest pages. You are already in the process of making this a well-known, quality resource for sufferers and their families. Special thanks to my wife who has contacted every man, woman, and child that she knows to share our story, let them know how we can help, and engage them with the “Yet I Trust” concept. You da bomb girl (yeah that’s right; I just dropped some 90’s flava on you), and your gift of gab has proven to be useful for something other than telling me every event that has happened in your day all at once : ) .
Big shout out to all those who donated and bought shirts to support the “Yet I Trust” concept in such an infantile stage, we won’t let you down. Oh yeah, and try not to just wear your “Yet I Trust” shirts to high-society, formal events among the rich and famous : ). Use them to remind your ill family, friends, and neighbors that there is a God who cares
about every detail of their lives (Luke 12:7; Psalm 56:8) and to remind yourselves of the Christian blessings found only in Christ (Acts 4:12; Eph. 1:3). I have been surprised by the conversations I have been privileged to have with people about God, simply because I was wearing “Yet I Trust” on my shirt. Whether it was the DMV worker who asked me what it meant and then shared with me the premature death of his 18-year-old daughter, or the manager at Chick-fil-A who wanted to know more about the mission of the site. It was nice to have a conversation in the DMV that didn’t start with, “Why is this taking so long?” and end with, “I hate the DMV.”
Today (7.3.15) is a big day for me; I am getting my second Rituxan infusion which should theoretically protect me from attacks for six months. A lot of people have asked me about Rituxan since we launched the website, so here are 10 facts I know about Rituxan:
- Rituxan is an off-label Multiple Sclerosis drug which would be referred to in the “MS world” as a disease modifying therapy (DMT). A DMT is designed to slow the progression of the disease by lengthening the time between attacks. Rituxan is typically used for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and Rheumatoid arthritis.
- Rituxan is crazy expensive because it is off-label and because these drugs for MS are just crazy expensive.
However, if you make less than 150,000 and meet a few other qualifications the drug is offered free/low cost by the company that makes it. Shout out to Genetech, thanks for the drug!
And this brings us to 10, Rituxan treatments usually make a person worthlessly tired for at least a day after the infusion. I was out one day, good one day, and then out for three after my first infusion. This is my way of saying bye, bye, talk to you on Thursday, God willing. Yet I Trust.
Prayers Rituxin decreases the burning sensation in your feet and legs and halts your symptoms! Good job Jeff! The pictures and your words brought flashbacks. Good stuff!
